Equipment

  • Rocks glass
  • Muddler
  • Jigger (for measuring)
  • Stirring spoon

Ingredients

  • 2 oz brandy or whiskey, if preferred
  • 1 sugar cube
  • 2-3 dashes Angostura bitters
  • Splash of club soda or 7-Up
  • Orange slice
  • Maraschino cherry
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  • Muddle the sugar and bitters: Drop a sugar cube into a rocks glass and add 2-3 dashes of Angostura bitters. Use a muddler to gently crush the sugar cube and mix with the bitters until dissolved.
  • Add ice: Fill the glass halfway with ice cubes to chill the mixture.
  • Pour the brandy: Add 2 ounces of brandy over the ice. If you prefer whiskey, feel free to swap it in for a more traditional version.
  • Top off: Depending on your taste, top off the drink with a splash of club soda for a more straightforward flavor or 7-Up for a sweeter, bubbly twist.
  • Garnish: Stir lightly and garnish with an orange slice and a maraschino cherry. For a touch of extra sweetness, you can muddle the orange slice with the sugar cube in the first step.
  • Enjoy: Your Wisconsin Old Fashioned is ready to serve!
