Equipment

  • Lime juicer (optional, but helpful)

Ingredients
  

  • 2 oz. tart cherry juice fresh or bottled
  • 1 oz. tequila preferably silver
  • 1 oz. fresh lime juice about half a lime
  • ½ oz. orange liqueur such as Cointreau or Triple Sec
  • 1 tsp. simple syrup optional, depending on sweetness preference
  • Ice for shaking and serving
  • Lime wedges for garnish
  • Tart cherry or sea salt for rimming the glass, optional

Instructions
 

  • Prepare the Glass: If you want a salted rim, rub a lime wedge around the rim of your glass, then dip it into a plate of salt (or tart cherry powder). Set aside.
  • Mix Ingredients: In a cocktail shaker, combine the tart cherry juice, tequila, fresh lime juice, orange liqueur, and simple syrup (if using).
  • Add Ice: Fill the shaker with ice to about halfway.
  • Shake It Up: Secure the lid on the shaker and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds until the mixture is well chilled.
  • Strain: Strain the mixture into the prepared glass filled with fresh ice.
  • Garnish: Add a lime wedge or a few tart cherries for garnish, and enjoy your drink!
