Ingredients
  

  • 2 oz bourbon
  • 1 tsp spiced honey syrup recipe below
  • 2 dashes of Angostura bitters
  • Orange peel for garnish
  • Cinnamon stick for garnish (optional)
  • Spiced Honey Syrup:
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 3-4 cloves
  • 1 star anise

Instructions
 

  • Make the spiced honey syrup: In a small saucepan, combine honey, water, cinnamon stick, cloves, and star anise. Bring the mixture to a simmer, stirring until the honey is fully dissolved. Let it simmer for about 5 minutes, then remove from heat. Strain the syrup into a jar and let it cool.
  • Prepare the cocktail: In a mixing glass, add 1 tsp of the cooled spiced honey syrup, 2 dashes of Angostura bitters, and 2 oz of bourbon.
  • Stir: Fill the mixing glass with ice and stir for about 20-30 seconds, letting the flavors blend together.
  • Strain: Strain the cocktail into a rocks glass over a large ice cube.
  • Garnish: Express the oils from an orange peel over the drink and drop it into the glass. Add a cinnamon stick if you want to amplify the spice notes.
  • Enjoy: Sip slowly and savor the complex flavors.
