Cuisine American
- 6 slices of thick bread preferably brioche or Texas toast
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup of milk
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons of sugar
- 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- A pinch of salt
- Butter for cooking
- Maple syrup or powdered sugar for serving
Prepare the Bread: Start by cutting each slice of bread into three or four thick sticks, depending on how large you want the sticks to be.
Mix the Batter: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, sugar, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt until the mixture is fully combined and slightly frothy.
Dip the Bread: Heat a griddle or large frying pan over medium heat and melt a small amount of butter to coat the surface. Dip each bread stick into the egg mixture, allowing it to soak for a few seconds on each side, making sure it's well-coated but not overly saturated.
Cook the Sticks: Place the soaked bread sticks onto the griddle or pan. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and crispy.
Serve: Once cooked, remove the french toast sticks from the pan and let them drain on a paper towel-lined plate briefly. Serve warm with maple syrup or a dusting of powdered sugar.
