Mugs for serving
- 4 cups of apple cider
- 1 cup of caramel syrup store-bought or homemade
- 1/2 cup spiced rum optional, adjust to taste
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 4 cloves
- Whipped cream for topping
- Caramel drizzle for garnish
- Apple slices for garnish
Heat the Apple Cider: Pour your apple cider into a large saucepan and set it over medium heat.
Add Spices: Drop in the cinnamon sticks and cloves. Allow the cider to heat up, absorbing the spices, for about 10-15 minutes. Your kitchen should start to smell heavenly by this point.
Combine with Caramel: Slowly stir in the caramel syrup. Make sure it’s thoroughly mixed with the cider. Let it simmer for another 5 minutes.
Incorporate the Alcohol (Optional): If you’re using spiced rum, now is the time to pour it in. Stir well and let it cook for another 2-3 minutes to meld the flavors together.
Strain the Cider: Remove the cinnamon sticks and cloves by straining the cider through a fine mesh sieve.
Serve Hot: Pour the hot spiked caramel apple cider into mugs. Top each mug with a generous dollop of whipped cream, a drizzle of caramel, and a few apple slices for garnish.
