Ingredients
  

  • 16 mozzarella string cheese sticks
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 cups Italian breadcrumbs
  • 2 cups panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying vegetable or canola oil works great
  • Marinara sauce for dipping optional

Instructions
 

Prepare the Cheese Sticks:

  • Unwrap the mozzarella string cheese sticks and cut each stick in half.

Set Up the Breading Stations:

  • Place the flour in a shallow dish.
  • In another shallow dish, beat the eggs.
  • In a third shallow dish, combine the Italian breadcrumbs, panko breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and pepper.

Bread the Cheese Sticks:

  • Dip each cheese stick half into the flour, ensuring it’s completely coated.
  • Next, dip the floured cheese stick into the beaten eggs.
  • Finally, roll the cheese stick in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere the breadcrumbs.
  • Repeat this process for a second coating to ensure a crispier outer layer.

Freeze the Cheese Sticks:

  • Place the breaded cheese sticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Freeze for at least 2 hours. This step is crucial to prevent the cheese from oozing out when frying.

Fry the Cheese Sticks:

  • Heat oil in a large, heavy-bottomed pot over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F.
  • Fry the cheese sticks in batches, about 1-2 minutes per batch or until golden brown and crispy.
  • Use a slotted spoon to transfer the fried mozzarella sticks to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Serve:

  • Serve hot with marinara sauce for dipping. Enjoy!
