For the Pulled Pork:
- 3-4 lbs pork shoulder or pork butt
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 large onion chopped
- 4 cloves garlic minced
- 1 cup BBQ sauce
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
For the Sliders:
- Slider buns
- Coleslaw store-bought or homemade
- Pickles optional
Prepare the Pork:
Rub the pork shoulder with smoked paprika, chili powder, cumin, black pepper, and salt.
Heat olive oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Sear the pork shoulder on all sides until beautifully browned.
Add Liquids:
Pour the chicken broth and BBQ sauce over the pork shoulder.
Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or high for 4-5 hours. If using an Instant Pot, cook on the "Meat" setting for about 1 hour.
Shred the Pork:
Once the pork is cooked through (use your meat thermometer to ensure an internal temperature of 190-195°F), remove it from the slow cooker.
Use two forks to shred the meat. Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and mix it with the remaining juices and BBQ sauce.
Assemble the Sliders:
Slice your slider buns in half.
Pile on a generous portion of pulled pork, top with coleslaw, and add pickles if you like.
Close with the top bun.
