Tips for Perfect Quesadillas
Choose the Right Cheese: Cheese is the star of any great quesadilla, so make sure you're using good quality cheese that melts well. Cheddar and Monterey Jack are my go-to choices because they bring a delicious blend of sharpness and creaminess. Don't be afraid to experiment with different types of cheese to find your favorite combination.
Keep the Heat Low: Cooking quesadillas over medium heat ensures that the cheese melts evenly and the tortilla browns without burning. If the heat is too high, you risk ending up with a quesadilla that's burnt on the outside and not properly melted on the inside. Patience is key here for that perfect, gooey bite
Savory Black Friday Chicken Quesadilla Recipe
Equipment
- Large mixing bowl
- Non-stick skillet
- Spatula
- Knife and cutting board
- Measuring spoons and cups
Ingredients
- 2 cups cooked chicken breast shredded
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
- 1/2 cup chopped bell peppers any color
- 1/2 cup chopped red onions
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1/2 tsp chili powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 8 large flour tortillas
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- Salsa sour cream, and guacamole for serving
Instructions
- Prepare the Ingredients: Start by shredding the cooked chicken breast and placing it in a large mixing bowl. Add the chopped bell peppers, red onions, and cilantro to the bowl. Sprinkle in the cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Mix everything well to ensure the flavors are evenly distributed.
- Heat the Skillet: Place a large non-stick skillet over medium heat and add one tablespoon of olive oil. Allow the oil to heat up for about a minute.
- Assemble the Quesadillas: Lay a flour tortilla flat and sprinkle a generous amount of shredded cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese on one half. Spoon the chicken mixture over the cheese, and then sprinkle a bit more cheese on top. Fold the tortilla over to cover the filling.
- Cook the Quesadilla: Place the folded quesadilla in the heated skillet. Cook for 2-3 minutes on one side, or until the bottom tortilla is golden brown and crispy. Flip it over and cook for another 2-3 minutes on the other side.
- Repeat and Serve: Repeat the process for the remaining tortillas and filling. Once all your quesadillas are cooked, cut them into wedges and serve with salsa, sour cream, and guacamole.
