- Buttered spatula or wax paper
Ingredients
- 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
- 4 cups mini marshmallows
- 3 tbsp butter
- Green food coloring
- Black icing gel or black candy melts
- Candy eyes
- Purple candy melts optional, for bolts
Instructions
- Prepare the Equipment:- Line a baking dish with parchment paper and grease it lightly with butter or non-stick spray. Set aside.
- Melt the Butter and Marshmallows:- In a large saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Once melted, add the mini marshmallows. Stir continuously until the marshmallows are completely melted and smooth.
- Add Food Coloring:- Remove the saucepan from heat. Add several drops of green food coloring to the melted marshmallow mixture. Stir until the color is evenly distributed. Add more food coloring if needed to achieve the desired shade of green.
- Mix in the Rice Krispies:- Pour the Rice Krispies cereal into the green marshmallow mixture. Stir until the cereal is completely coated with the green marshmallow.
- Shape the Mixture:- Using a buttered spatula or wax paper, press the mixture into the prepared baking dish. Flatten it out evenly.
- Cut into Shapes:- Once the mixture has cooled and set (about 20-30 minutes), lift it out of the baking dish using the parchment paper. Cut into rectangles or squares to form the base of your Frankenstein’s monster.
- Decorate Frankenstein:- Using black gel icing or melted black candy, draw on Frankenstein's hair, mouth, and scars. Place candy eyes where the eyes should be. If using purple candy melts for bolts, melt them according to package instructions, shape them into small circles, and press them into the sides of Frankenstein's head.
