One of my absolute favorite ways to do this is by making a mouthwatering Black Friday Turkey and Stuffing Sandwich. Tips and Tricks
Make the Most of Your Leftovers: The beauty of this sandwich is that you can customize it based on what you have. Don’t have stuffing? Substitute with mashed potatoes! No cranberry sauce? A slice of cheese or a bit of mustard can add a nice touch. The goal is to make something sensational out of your available resources.
Perfect Pairings: Pair this sandwich with some leftover roasted veggies or a simple green salad to balance out the meal. If you're looking for something more comforting, a cup of hot soup, like leftover butternut squash or tomato soup, will complement the sandwich perfectly.
Black Friday Turkey and Stuffing Sandwich Recipe
Equipment
- Cutting board
- Knife
- Skillet (optional, for toasting)
- Spatula (optional, for toasting)
Ingredients
- 2 slices of your favorite bread sourdough or ciabatta works great
- 2-3 slices of leftover turkey
- 1/2 cup of leftover stuffing
- 2 tablespoons of cranberry sauce
- A drizzle of leftover gravy
- Optional: a handful of fresh spinach or arugula
- Butter or mayonnaise for toasting optional
Instructions
- Prepare Your Station: Gather all your leftovers—turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, and gravy. Make sure you’ve got a nice space to work in.
- Layer the Sandwich: Take one slice of bread and spread a generous layer of cranberry sauce on it. This will act as your base.
- Add the Turkey: Place 2-3 slices of turkey over the cranberry sauce. Make sure the turkey is distributed evenly across the bread.
- Stuffing Time: Scoop about half a cup of stuffing and spread it over the turkey. If the stuffing is too crumbly, you can slightly mash it with a fork to help it stick together.
- Top with Gravy: Drizzle a bit of gravy over the stuffing for moisture and added flavor.
- Add Greens (Optional): If you like a bit of freshness in your sandwich, add a handful of spinach or arugula on top of the stuffing.
- Top It Off: Place the other slice of bread on top. If you like toasted sandwiches, you can spread a bit of butter or mayonnaise on the outside of the bread.
- Toast (Optional): Heat a skillet over medium heat. If you’ve opted to butter the bread, place the sandwich in the skillet and toast until golden brown on both sides, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Serve: Slice the sandwich in half and serve immediately!
