Tips for Making the Perfect Zombie Meatloaf

  • Choose Quality Meat: Opt for a good quality ground beef with a good fat content. This will ensure that your meatloaf is juicy and flavorful.
  • Get Creative: Don't be afraid to add your own personal touches to the zombie head. Use different vegetables or even food coloring for added creepiness.

Fun Halloween Party Ideas with Zombie Meatloaf

  • Themed Buffet: Create a Halloween-themed buffet with the Zombie Meatloaf as the centerpiece. Complement it with other spooky dishes like “witch finger” cookies and “ghost” mashed potatoes.

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Knife
  • Oven

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 slices of bacon
  • 1 small onion for the eyes
  • 1 small red bell pepper for the mouth
  • 2 olives for the eyes

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Prepare the meatloaf mixture: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, finely chopped onion, minced garlic, milk, eggs, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Mix everything well with your hands until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.
  • Shape the meatloaf: On a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, shape the meatloaf mixture into a rough shape of a human head. Be sure to create a prominent nose, eye sockets, and a mouth slit.
  • Create the eyes and mouth: Cut the small onion in half and place each half in the eye sockets to resemble eyeballs. Make sure to slightly push them into the meatloaf to secure them. Slice the red bell pepper to create a mouth and place it in the mouth slit.
  • Add the bacon: Drape the bacon slices over the top of the meatloaf head for added flavor and a creepy effect.
  • Bake: Place the meatloaf in the preheated oven and bake for about 1 hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
  • Decorate (optional): Once out of the oven, add the olives to the center of each onion half to complete the eyes. You can also use extra ketchup to create a bloody effect around the mouth and nose.
  • Serve: Let the meatloaf rest for a few minutes before slicing. Serve it hot and enjoy the spooky delight!
